What is the role?
As a Senior Flight Operations Engineer at our space operations center, you will play a leading role in our Satellite Operations team. You will own the flight operations of our growing spacecraft fleet end to end: setting operational standards, making key decisions during critical mission phases, and helping the team through complex on-orbit challenges. Beyond hands-on operations, you will shape how we operate at scale by driving process maturity, automation and cross-team alignment to ensure mission success and long-term fleet reliability.
What will you be responsible for?
- Lead flight operations for multiple missions, including LEOP, commissioning, nominal operations and end-of-life phases
- Act as the operational authority during critical events and anomalies, making time-sensitive decisions and coordinating the response across engineering teams
- Lead anomaly investigations and root-cause analyses, and drive corrective and preventive actions into design, procedures and tooling
- Define, review and approve flight procedures, operational concepts and contingency plans
- Drive the development of operations automation and tooling to support a scalable, multi-satellite fleet
- Identify, assess and mitigate operational risks at mission and fleet level
- Work closely with Systems Engineering, Payload, Software and Ground Segment teams to ensure operability is built into spacecraft and missions from early design phases
What do we look for?
- Degree in a technical field (aerospace, electronics, software or similar)
- 5+ years of experience in spacecraft operations, including hands-on involvement in at least one LEOP or commissioning campaign
- Proven experience leading anomaly investigations and making decisions in time-critical operational environments
- Strong understanding of spacecraft subsystems (ADCS, EPS, communications, OBC, payloads) and how they interact on orbit
- Solid scripting and automation skills (Python or similar) and experience with telemetry analysis and operations tooling
- Track record of authoring, reviewing and improving operational procedures and documentation
- Experience mentoring or guiding other team members
- Experience with small satellites or constellations, ground segment systems, or ECSS/CCSDS standards is a strong advantage
How to stand out?
- Bring a strong sense of ownership and accountability for mission outcomes
- Stay calm and structured under pressure, especially during critical events
- Actively share knowledge and help raise the capability of the whole team
- Think beyond daily operations and contribute to how the team scales
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Be passionate about space
