Your mission

Reporting to the CTO, you are OIQ’s RF and wireless systems authority for handheld and edge-device user terminals. You architect, build and validate the hybrid NTN-TN radio chain behind our land-mobility MOVE product, from modem and protocol-stack architecture through breadboards, lab and over-the-air testing to field deployment, working closely with hardware, software, AI and commercial teams.

1\. RF & wireless system architecture ▪ Architect a hybrid satellite-terrestrial (NTN-TN) communication solution with seamless interoperability for mobility and handheld use cases. ▪ Lead digital hardware architecture for modems and modem accelerators (incl. application processors), together with physical-layer and protocol-stack software architecture. ▪ Translate user-terminal (edge/handheld) and gateway requirements into wireless system architectures compliant with 3GPP (Rel. 15+, incl. Rel. 17+ NTN), ETSI, ITU and FCC. ▪ Design and optimise RAN, core and transport components for adaptive, low-latency, high-throughput connectivity across LEO/MEO/GEO constellations and 5G/LTE/RedCap networks. ▪ Develop NTN-TN spectrum-sharing, interference-mitigation and beamforming strategies; define feeder-link requirements for data and control exchange between TN and NTN. 2\. Simulation, integration & testing ▪ Perform network planning, link-budget analysis and simulation with the network design team. ▪ Review end-to-end mission interfaces and data-path integrity: RF chain, onboard payload, terminal RF control, integrated modems and battery management. ▪ Drive board- and subsystem-level breadboard development and validation of critical building blocks. ▪ Write and execute integration and system test specifications; run lab, over-the-air (OTA) and real-world drive tests for NTN-TN interoperability. ▪ Deliver proof-of-concept deployments and demonstrations. 3\. Partners, suppliers & delivery ▪ Evaluate component and subsystem partners; coordinate external technical partnerships. ▪ Plan and steer contract-supplier and subcontractor deliveries: milestones, work packages, plan sign-offs, subsystem integration and acceptance. ▪ Act as primary technical contact for cellular wireless development and deployment across OIQ’s partner and customer ecosystem. 4\. Collaboration & mentoring ▪ Maintain rigorous technical documentation (e.g. GitHub) and present results internally and externally. ▪ With the CTO, mentor working students, interns and extended team members on 4G/5G NTN-TN connectivity.

Your profile

Essential ▪ Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Wireless Communications, Telecommunications, Computer Science or a related field. ▪ 8+ years’ wireless systems-engineering experience, ideally in cellular handheld and satellite communications (telecom, aerospace or automotive). ▪ Deep knowledge of 3GPP (incl. Rel. 17+ NTN), 5G NR, LTE, NB-IoT, RAN, core (EPC/5GC) and transport networks. ▪ Strong RF expertise: beamforming, MIMO, waveform design, modulation (OFDM, QAM, DSSS), spectrum allocation, interference management and link budgets for terrestrial and satellite links. ▪ Proficiency in MATLAB, HGSS, ADS, Ansys, Python, C++ or similar simulation tools; experience with embedded/IoT systems, edge AI and cloud-based telematics. ▪ Hands-on use of RF test equipment (VNAs, spectrum analysers, signal generators) and validation platforms such as Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Viavi, Anritsu, Spirent or Amarisoft. ▪ Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, GitHub and Microsoft 365; customer-oriented, clear communicator, comfortable with ambiguity. ▪ Fluent English; working proficiency in French or German. Valid driving licence (lab, drive testing and partner visits). Preferred ▪ LEO/MEO/GEO satellite communications and network slicing; O-RAN, SDN and cloud-native 5G core. ▪ Electronically steered antennas, phased arrays, mmWave; V2X/C-V2X, edge computing and AI-driven network optimisation. ▪ Experience in automotive, rail, agriculture, fleet or aerospace connectivity; containerised networking (Kubernetes, Docker).

Why OrbitsIQ?

▪ 30 days’ paid annual leave plus 24 and 31 December, in addition to Luxembourg’s 11 statutory public holidays (statutory minimum: 26 days). ▪ Competitive salary and Luxembourg social-security coverage (health, pension, accident insurance). ▪ Flexible working hours; hybrid work applied within cross-border telework thresholds for residents of France, Belgium and Germany. ▪ Hands-on work on cutting-edge NTN-TN hardware in a multinational, collaborative start-up with short decision paths, visionary leadership and a strong investor and partner network. ▪ Contribution to fitness or health-related activities, and support for professional development. ▪ A multinational, collaborative start-up with short decision paths, visionary leadership and a strong investor and partner network, and the chance to shape the future of mobility, handheld connectivity and space.
